How Does A Watch-A-Thon Work?
If you’ve ever participated in a walk-a-thon you know the drill. Find sponsors in your community to pledge a certain amount of money per movie you watch or you can ask them to pledge a fixed amount for your participation in the event! The more sponsors you find the more money you raise! You can watch 13 movies in a row or come and go as you please, but the more movies you watch the better!
Registration
Registration is now open.
Registration ends November 30th.
The price for an individual registration is $10. You also have the option of signing up as a family so you can come together to enjoy the films for the price of $20 a family. If you or your family are able to raise $200 or more, your registration fee will be refunded. Registration fees will be refunded on the night of the event.
Sponsors and Pledging
Sponsors can be anyone, family, friends, local businesses or even strangers on the street. Ask as many people as you can to pledge money for our cause. There are two ways for sponsors to donate; a flat donation or a pledge price per movie. A flat donation means they are donating a flat price for your participation in the event, regardless of how many movies you watch. A pledge price per movie means that the sponsor has agreed to give you a fixed price for each movie you watch. For example a sponsor may offer $5 per movie, therefore if you watch 5 movies you raised $25, but if you watch all 13 movies you will have raised $65!
You can continue to collect pledges until the day of the event (Dec. 2nd)! You can also Join Our Cause on Causes.com through Facebook and ask all of your Facebook friends for support!
Tracking/Collecting Donations
When you register, you will receive through email or in person a participation packet that will aid in tracking and collecting your donations. On your donation log you can list your sponsors, their contact information, how they will be paying and how much. With this sheet you can also keep track of whom you have collected from. You can hand in all of this information along with the donations you’ve collected to BATV the day of the event.
You can collect donations from your sponsors in the form of cash, checks made out to Brookline Access Television, or credit card by joining the cause on our online Causes page.
